At its recent Made on YouTube live event, YouTube unveiled an array of new generative AI tools designed specifically for Shorts creators. These updates aim to make video creation faster, more dynamic, and highly customizable.
One of the highlights is Veo 3 Fast, a custom version of Google’s text to video generative AI model, Veo 3. Veo 3 Fast generates videos at 480p with lower latency, enabling creators to produce short clips more efficiently. For the first time, this tool also allows creators to generate videos with accompanying sound, expanding creative possibilities. Currently, this feature is available in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and New Zealand, with plans for a broader rollout in the future.

Veo 3 also introduces exciting new capabilities for Shorts creators. Users can now transfer motion from a video to a still image, for instance, animating a person in a photo to perform dance moves from another clip. Additionally, creators can apply various artistic styles to their videos, such as pop art or origami, and even add objects, characters, or props using simple text descriptions. These features are set to roll out gradually over the coming months.
In addition, YouTube introduced a new remixing tool that transforms dialogue from eligible videos into catchy soundtracks for other Shorts. Dina Berrada, YouTube’s Director of Product for Shorts and Generative AI Creation, explained in a blog post:
“As the world’s largest creative playground, YouTube is where trends are born and where you can draw inspiration. Imagine hearing a line of dialogue that sparks an idea, a funny phrase, a memorable quote, or a one of a kind sound, and you want to remix it into a new track. With our Speech to Song tool, you’ll be able to do just that.”

This remixing feature leverages Google’s AI music model, Lyria 2, allowing creators to craft soundtracks with different vibes such as chill, danceable, or fun, giving them even more control over the mood and style of their Shorts.
With these updates, YouTube is strengthening its position as a platform where creators can experiment with AI driven video content, turning inspiration into engaging Shorts faster and more creatively than ever.
