Our Privacy Policy
Types of Personal Data We Collect and Their Purpose
1. Comments
When visitors leave comments on our site, we collect the data displayed in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to assist in spam detection effectively.
An anonymized string created from your email address, known as a hash, may be provided to the Gravatar service to determine whether you are utilizing it. You can review the Gravatar service privacy policy here: https://uxdlab.us/privacy-policy/. Once your comment is approved, your profile picture will be visible to the public alongside your comment for everyone to see.
2. Media
If you upload images to the website, it is crucial to avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can easily download and extract any location data from images displayed on the website, potentially compromising your privacy.
3. Cookies
When you leave a comment on our site, you may opt to save your name, email address, and website in cookies for convenience. This ensures you won’t have to fill in your details again when leaving another comment in the future. These cookies will remain active for one year.
If you visit our login page, a temporary cookie will be set to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and will be discarded when you close your browser.
Upon logging in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies are valid for two days, while screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login information will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, all login cookies will be promptly removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply indicates the post ID of the article you have just edited. It will expire after one day.
4. Embedded content from other websites
Articles on this site may include embedded content, such as videos, images, articles, and more. Embedded content from other websites behaves exactly the same way as if the visitor has directly visited the other website.
These external websites may collect data about you, use cookies, embed additional third-party tracking technologies, and monitor your interaction with that embedded content, including tracking your engagement with the embedded content if you have an account and are logged in to that particular website.
5. Analytics
a.) Who We Share Your Data With
If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email for security purposes.
b.) How Long We Retain Your Data
If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This allows us to recognize and automatically approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue.
For users who register on our website (if applicable), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time, except for changing their username. Website administrators have the ability to see and edit that information as well.
c.) What Rights You Have Over Your Data
If you have an account on this site or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us directly. Additionally, you can request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.
d.) Where We Send Your Data
Visitor comments may be checked through an automated spam detection service to enhance site security.
